Subspecies
There are 5 subspecies[1]:
- P. c. trigeminus:
- Salawati Island and west coast of Vogelkop Peninsula (north-western New Guinea)
- P. c. geminus:
- Northern New Guinea (head of Geelvink Bay to Takar) and Yapen Island
- P. c. quadrigeminus:
- Northern New Guinea (Humboldt to Astrolabe Bay) and Manam Island
- P. c. huonensis:
- Northern coastal New Guinea (Huon Bay to Goodenough Bay)
- P. c. coronulatus:
- Aru Island and southern coastal New Guinea (Mimika River to Milne Bay)
