Identification

  • Warm brown above
  • Buff-grey below
  • White chin and throat
  • White tipped outer tail feathers

Distribution

Eastern Africa found in Mozambique and Malawi.

Taxonomy

Formerly placed in genus Alethe and in Pseudalethe by Clements. However, Chamaetylas has priority over Pseudalethe.

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • C. c. choloensis:
  • Montane forests of southern Malawi (east of Rift Valley)
  • C. c. namuli:

Habitat

Moist montanes.

Behaviour

Terrestrial.

Diet

The diet includes insects.
