Southeast Asia and Australasia
Asia: Indonesia and the Moluccas
Australasia: Papua New Guinea and Melanesia

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 3 subspecies[1]:

  • R. h. hyperythra:
  • R. h. muelleri:
  • Yapen Island and western New Guinea (Astrolabe Bay to Lake Kutubu)
  • R. h. castaneothorax:
  • South-eastern New Guinea (Saruwaged Mountains to Angabunga River)

Habitat

Moist montanes and lowland forests.

Behaviour

The diet includes insects and invertebrates.
