Description
A single species, the highly distinctive Hook-billed Kingfisher from New Guinea.
This species is nocturnal and digs in the soil for food.
Taxonomy
Melidora is a genus in the family Alcedinidae.
It shows some similarities with Tanysiptera, Clytoceyx and Dacelo.
