Genus: Malacias
Description
If accepted, this genus would contain six of the eight species of Sibias:
They have a shorter bill, longer rictal bristles, a less pointed wing, a shorter tail and a very different voice compared to Heterophasia sensu stricto.
Taxonomy
Malacias is a genus in the Family Leiothrichidae.
It was formerly included in the family Timaliidae.
Most authorities keep all Sibias in one genus, Heterophasia. However, some place them into three, adding Malacias and Leioptila.
