Genus: Dryonastes
Description
A genus which is not (yet) accepted by most authorities. If accepted it would contain nine to eleven species:
- Grey-sided Laughingthrush
- Chestnut-winged Laughingthrush (split from Rusty)
- Rusty Laughingthrush
- Black-throated Laughingthrush
- Chestnut-backed Laughingthrush
- Rufous-vented Laughingthrush
- Wayanad Laughingthrush
- Blue-crowned Laughingthrush (split from Yellow-throated)
- Yellow-throated Laughingthrush
- White-cheeked Laughingthrush
- Rufous-necked Laughingthrush
The members of this proposed genus have the nostrils half-hidden by forward-lying bristles and the bill is shorter than the head.
Taxonomy
Dryonastes is a genus in the Family Leiothrichidae.
This genus is commonly merged in the genus Garrulax.
