Taxonomy
This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 2 subspecies.
Subspecies
- S. h. margarethae:
- Mountains of north-western Mexico (south-eastern Sinaloa and south-western Chihuahua to Jalisco)
- S. h. heloisa:
- Highlands of Mexico (central Tamaulipas to Guerrero and Oaxaca)
An additional subspecies morcomi is generally considered invalid[1].

Behaviour
Breeding
The female builds the cup nest from finely woven plant fibre bound with spiders web, and is suspended from a leaf. The clutch consists of 2 white eggs.
