Identification
A mostly olive-green hummingbird, with a blue tail and conspicuous leg tufts, whose characteristic color distinguish it from the Greenish puffleg, which has white leg tufts.
Distribution
South America: found in Peru and Bolivia.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- H. a. affinis:
- Eastern Andes of northern and central Peru
- H. a. assimilis:
Habitat
Moist montane forests, between 1500 and 2500 masl.
Behaviour
Forages in the under- and midstorey. Generally doesn't visit feeders.
