Identification
35-40 cm (13¾-15¾) a light brown duck
Male:red bill and legs, pale grey area on side of head and neck
Female: blue/grey bill
There are both light and dark phases.
Distribution
South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.

Habitat
Freshwater lakes and pools with dense vegetation nearby.
Behaviour
Diet
Little has been recorded, but it is presumed the diet includes seeds, fruits, roots and insects.
