Distribution
Andes of central Peru to northern Chile and Argentina
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly placed in genus Carduelis.
Habitat
High-altitude shrubland and high-altitude grassland at heights from 3,000 and 5,000 m.
Behaviour
Diet
They forage on or near the ground mostly for seeds, also some insects are taken.
