• Black crown and upper throat
• White patch at side of neck
• Greyish upperparts
• Green flight feathers

Asia and Australasia
Southeast Asia: Indonesia
Australasia: Papua New Guinea, Melanesia

Taxonomy

Formerly placed in the genus Lichenostomus.

Subspecies

There are 4 subspecies^[1]:

• C. s. subfrenata:

• North-western New Guinea (Arfak Mountains)

• C. s. melanolaema:

• Central Mountains of New Guinea

• C. s. utakwensis:

• New Guinea (Weyland and Snow Mountains)

• C. s. salvadorii:

• Mountains of south-eastern New Guinea

Habitat

Primary montane forest and forest edges.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of nectar, insects and fruit, mainly foraging in the canopy.
