Identification
15 cm (6 in)
- Yellow forehead, crown and underparts
- Black face and bib, more marked in breeding male
- Back and wings heavily marked with brown streaks
Distribution
South-east Asia: found in Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Greater Sundas, Sumatra, Java

Habitat
Wetlands, marshes, reed beds, arable land and rice fields
Behaviour
Breeding
They build a dome-shaped nests made from woven grass, in reeds or grasses beside fresh water lakes and ponds.
Diet
The diet consists mostly of grass seeds and grain. Insects are included during the nesting period.
