Identification

18–19 cm

• Brown with yellow head markings
• Light yellow forehead, crown, face and chin

Distribution

Africa
Western Africa: found in Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola
Eastern Africa: occurs only in Zambia

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 3 subspecies^[1]:

• S. a. rex :

• West-central Angola

• S. a. anchietae:

• Highlands of south-central Angola to western Zambia border

• S. a. katangae:

• North-eastern Angola, southern Zaire and Zambia

Habitat

Woodland and clearings, forest edges and riverine woods.

Behaviour

Mainly frugivorous eating fruit and figs. Though they also eat grasshoppers and termites.
