As usual, I apologize for the poor quality of the images; taken just out of the comfort zone of my superzoom camera and in less than ideal lighting. Spotted a few of these little guys (or gals) flitting about in Concrete, WA, so a little west of North Cascades National Park. Merlin was all over the map on possible identifications based on the photos (Lincoln, Savannah, Song, Vesper were all in the running); Merlin was also hearing Savannah sparrows in the area. This is from August 2024. Thanks!

See, I told you I was dense...well, so is concrete. :)

Not a Chipping Sparrow? - that would be one way to free it? ;-)

America is great for some random words as city names. Probably they have relevant meaning somewhere along the line. Although my favourite city of all is probably Batman in Turkey.

Sorry not being much help on the sparrow id either ;-)

I reckon I must be dense... I don't get it.

FWIW, I’m not seeing the ID either OhioHick.
Clearly one of your Sparrows as to which one?
It doesn’t appear to have the most robust bill that I’ve encountered (as when I’ve been on your side of the pond) thus I’m wondering if
Savannah might “fit the bill?” 👍

Cheers
