'Oldest' osprey returns to nest (3 Viewers)

Crikey, that is a ripe old age! Let's hope she has a few more years yet. What a contribution she has made to Osprey conservation too! With 46 fledeglings put into the gene pool she deserves a medal!

That is good news, Pam. Shame they haven't given her a name though, she should have one being such a great age.[/QUOTE]

Funnily enough I thought the same, Val. Perhaps they didn't name the ospreys many years ago.

She certainly does deserve a medal, Joe! Maybe a plaque will be erected in recognition of her in a suitable place when the inevitable happens...let's hope that will be a few more years away for her though!

An amazing 20th consecutive year of returning to breed in Scotland!

Something also amazing is the age of the osprey!:eek!:
At an estimated 25 years old, it has reached three times the average lifespan of an osprey.

Hi Sandra,
yes according to the link she is the one at the Loch of the Lowes and her mate is expected within a week.

The female bird has amazed staff at the Scottish Wildlife Trust's (SWT) Loch of the Lowes wildlife reserve.

It is expected that the female osprey's breeding partner, a male osprey identified with a green leg ring, will arrive within a week.

Hi Pam just thought I would let you know that although this lady has had two babies she is not having a great time at the moment

I know, Sandra! I have been following the webcam, Lady has eaten and is also feeding her chicks with the fish that the Laird is bringing to the nest for her.! She has done well, hopefully she will gain strength daily. The Laird has been awesome to watch as he fed the chicks when Lady was too weak to feed them herself. Time will tell with her recovery, hopefully it will be good.

Here is the link to the webcam if you wish to follow the progress of the Ospreys and chicks.

I have been following the ospreys progress Pam lets keep our fingers crossed that the lady at least gets to see her young fledge but she does look to be a lot brighter

not been on ex beebs for ages. No need to ask what i.ve been doing lol. Lady Marge (Lady is the name she has been given officially at last and Marge the name Birdforum lotl posters gave her years ago) is doing so much better. I watched her failing in front of my eyes on saturday and cried all saturday and sunday. What i have seen since then is a miracle. Fingers crossed she continues to recover back to her healthy old self. She.s mantling at the moment and her toy boy Frank is helium cheeping at an intruder in the sky.
