Simon King's Shetland Diaries 4th February BBC2 8pm (1 Viewer)

For all you Simon fans theres a new series starting on Thursday on Simon in Shetland with his wife & son wildlife watching.

Going by the description in the Radio Times, it sounds a bit too cutesy and this is almost off-putting "And chatty wee Savannah is a little star". I just hope we see as little as possible of wife and child and more of the wildlife.

The clue is in the programmes title. As much as the wildlife will take centre stage it is a 'sort of' sneak peak into our lives up here in the far north. As 'cutesy' as it may be it should be good viewing.

cheers

Depends how fit his wife is :t:

She may be to us men what Simon is to women!!!

This is the listing for tv guide - http://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail.asp?id=58074637

I just hope he's left the smarmy springwatch smile on the main land

Her photo in Radio Times doesn't look bad!

As for the smile: "Never trust an animal that smiles all the time. Its up to something." - Douglas Adams on dolphins, in The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Maybe the laugh's on us.....

A mate of mine, who sadly lost his woolly hat that looked 'just like Simons' is now after another one. If anyone recognises Simons hat, and knows where to get one, can you let me know (stupid question but I promised that I'd ask).

TIA,

Andy

I didn't think much of the Kate Humble impersonation. I think she'll be keeping him at arms length from now on.

Nice footage of the orcas and otters though.

Just finished watching it (catch up on sky+) OH and I found it very enjoyable and the cutesy bits added to it. (9/10 & looking forward to next weeks episode.)

Funnily enough I lost my woolly hat a few days ago too ... But oddly, it was 'nothing like Simon's', I am glad to say ;)

Seriously though, it isn't your 'mate', is it? It's you isn't it? Going by your location... maybe you didn't want to own up to it, but you just gave it away (it being you, not the hat) ... ;)

???

:king: ( = King with a hat on)

I've know doubt the 'responsible parenting brigade or health and safety freaks' must have been raising their eyebrows and wagging their accusing fingers at Si and his good wife for allowing their daughter to run around a cliff top and to be driven through a raging torrent.
That said I enjoyed the programme. Fantastic coastal scenery and great wildlife shots as expected from Mr King. Look forward to next weeks installment.

i switched it off after 10 minutes. It appeared to be more about Simon and the family than the wildlife. Perhaps i should have stuck at it a bit longer

Ps - You'll all be glad to know that i havent lost my woolly hat so if you do find one - it isnt mine

Interesting bit for me (apart from the wildlife) was when he spoke about having three children from a previous marriage and how now he has the opportunity to include his child in his activities. Allmost sensed a tinge of regret ?
