A surprise (Circus aeruginosus)

I was travelling on a narrow road up the hill at the back of town when two birds in flight grabbed my attention.

Sadly, by the time I'd safely pulled the car over and got out they were very much higher and I only ended with silhouettes.

I'd thought Hen Harriers (as they'd historically bred in the area before the windfarm!) but really wasn't too sure.

IDers on here thought more likely Marsh Harriers, which would be a first for me in the area.

Lovely double capture of these two harriers D. I frequently encounter this scenario with our Mississipi Kites, I call them ghost birds. They are flying low overhead, I quickly pull over grab my camera and the sky is clear (lol). TFS my friend!
