Red-tailed Hawk and a blue sky. Glad it was yesterday cause it rained all day today.
Red-tailed Hawks are large hawks with typical Buteo proportions: very broad, rounded wings and a short, wide tail. The most common Hawk in North America.

I had a unique opportunity to shoot in a pristine salt-marsh here in Connecticut - a one-day deal, good luck. But it worked out well, as I saw dozens of hawks (and others, which I'll be posting). This guy landed literally over my head, which gave me a great angle, but I was getting showered with...

Red-tailed Hawk
Brought my first coffee out on my back deck, sat down and looked up and I see this Hawk perched quietly. Thankfully, I never leave my home w/o my camera. Took my first sip and the movement didn't bother it so I slowly picked up my camera and clicked :) One more to follow tomorrow.
Red-tailed Hawk — I think this is the male. He and his mate have been romancing in the air and on the perch for several days. There is a little feather damage to the lift wing tip. They raised two chicks last year. Edited to crop, adjust levels, and sharpen.
Crow buzzed this hawk about 5-6 times, but hawk stood it's ground. Probably flew off since it seen me taking shot through the window. Didn't take time to go out in the sub-zero weather.
Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)
We are scheduled to leave for Alpine and Fort Davis in the morning if all goes as planned. I will be online tonight and then, not until Monday week. I wish everyone great birding and photography. Stay safe! Cheers! Stanley
