    Fly over

Red-tailed Hawk and a blue sky. Glad it was yesterday cause it rained all day today. Red-tailed Hawks are large hawks with typical Buteo proportions: very broad, rounded wings and a short, wide tail. The most common Hawk in North America.

    Red-tailed hawk

The same hawk that I posted before roosting in the tree; here he's on his way there.
  5. Red-tailed hawk

    Red-tailed hawk

I had a unique opportunity to shoot in a pristine salt-marsh here in Connecticut - a one-day deal, good luck. But it worked out well, as I saw dozens of hawks (and others, which I'll be posting). This guy landed literally over my head, which gave me a great angle, but I was getting showered with...
  6. Red-tailed Hawk #2

    Red-tailed Hawk #2

Red-tailed Hawk This was taken after the Hawk Pic I posted yesterday. It managed to ignore my coffee cup lifting and photo taking but it sure didn't take to my repetitious sneezing from the high pollen and took off so I stood up and grabbed this pic.
  7. Good Morning for me :)

    Good Morning for me :)

Red-tailed Hawk Brought my first coffee out on my back deck, sat down and looked up and I see this Hawk perched quietly. Thankfully, I never leave my home w/o my camera. Took my first sip and the movement didn't bother it so I slowly picked up my camera and clicked :) One more to follow tomorrow.

American Kestrel (female) and Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)

This female American Kestrel (Falco sparverius sparverius) was forceable showing the Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) out of her hunting grounds.
  9. Tail Feathers Aglow

    Tail Feathers Aglow

Red-tailed Hawk — I think this is the male. He and his mate have been romancing in the air and on the perch for several days. There is a little feather damage to the lift wing tip. They raised two chicks last year. Edited to crop, adjust levels, and sharpen.

In the backyard resting for awhile. Not in the tallest tree though where bald eagles set.

  12. Red-Tailed Hawk with Crow

    Red-Tailed Hawk with Crow

Crow buzzed this hawk about 5-6 times, but hawk stood it's ground. Probably flew off since it seen me taking shot through the window. Didn't take time to go out in the sub-zero weather.
