Genus: Gypopsitta

Description

Due to our policy to follow a consensus between Clements and Howard & Moore currently no species is placed in this genus. Some authorities place the Vulturine Parrot from Brazil here.

Taxonomy

Gypopsitta is a genus in the Family Psittacidae. Most authorities have in the past placed all members of this genus in genus Pionopsitta; recent studies meant a resurrection of Gypopsitta. Later yet, it seems that the name will have to be changed, to genus Pyrilia because that name took precedent.
