    plume

Thank you, Rob. That is interesting because Stenoptilia bipunctidactyla had been suggested to me but we have only had one record of this over here which was in 2011. So I think I'll make a few more investigations .......... Many thanks for your reply.

    Hampshire Moth ID Please

Kits, normally Burnished Brass sits with its wings closed. Yours has its wings open which is perhaps why you think it looks different. As David and Martin say, it is a Burnished Brass. Nerine

    carpet for id - Brittany

Hi David, what a lovely reply - even though I am none the wiser getting an id for this moth! Thank you for your suggestions but I have a feeling, after browsing the internet, it might be Dusky Carpet Tephronia sepiaria or something near to that. I have a contact in Brittany and will probably...

    June Moths

I was surprised to find this in the trap this morning - a very late Early Grey. Thirsty Shark - it seemed pleased to be released into the honeysuckle. 33 Heart and Darts in the trap. :eek!: Nerine

    Moths in October

Thanks, Rob. I've had very few 'new' moths for the garden this year but I have never caught this one before so it was quite exciting - and such a beauty too. I've now learnt not to let the rain put you off trapping! Nerine

    Moths in October

I thought I'd find a thread for October but as there doesn't seem to be one I may as well start it. I found this lovely Palpita vitrealis in the trap this morning ... I nearly didn't bother to trap, fog and drizzle - but a good few moths around so I'm glad I did! Nerine
