Gull ID, please
This is coastal northwest Oregon. The gull in front is larger, with a darker mantle, and longer bill than the gull in back, which is a familiar Short-billed Gull (formerly called Mew Gull in North America). Is the mantle dark enough and the bill long enough for the kamchatka form of Common... -

Common Gull (Mew Gull)
Herring Gull is by far the most numerous gull here, with smaller numbers of Black-headed. Sometimes there are a few Common Gulls mixed in, but they're usually fairly distant. I've only occasionally got flight shots of them, and only once photographed one perched. Thank you for your comments...- Jonno52

"Feed me! Feed me!"
On my way back to Ilabekken a few days later to see if I could get better pics of the Grey Wags and/or Dippers, I stopped briefly in a park in town for a pair of Mew Gull chicks just out of the nest. It was a bright, sunny day. I clearly haven't found how to deal with the dark shadows that entails.- Doc Duck

I don't recall the temperature that day, but it must have been rather hot. JE549 was panting in the shade. I did report the sighting, and learned he'd been banded nearby (i.e. somewhere on the Lade peninsula) the year before.- Doc Duck
