Location: Marigot Bay, St. Lucia

Description

Mostly black, with orange or orange-yellow on lower back, rump, shoulder, and lower belly. Immature is greener than the adult with black throat.

Distribution and Taxonomy

This monotypic species is endemic to the island of St. Lucia in the Lesser Antilles, and is described as 'uncommon, becoming scarcer and threatened'. Among the threats described, habitat loss and nest parasitism by Shiny Cowbird seems especially important.

Habitat

Both drier and wetter woodlands from sea-level to half way up the local mountains. Often associated with palms.
