Identification

Black and yellow black bills, large yellow eyes and cryptic plumage. Prominent joints in the long yellow or greenish legs.

Distribution

Africa between the Sahara and the equator, and in the Nile valley.

Taxonomy

A monotypic species.

Habitat

Dry open habitats near water.

Behaviour

2 blotchy light brown eggs are laid on a ground scrape.
