Batis diops

Identification

Sexually dimorphic. Large Batis ( 12 cm ).Male very like Ituri Batis except larger, longer tailed, has distinctly broader breastband, noticable white margins to the secondaries and lacks darker forehead. Female identical to male except upperparts much paler. Eyes yellow in male and bright red in female. Bill and legs black

Distribution

Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Montane forest ( above 1400 m ) and keeps to middle story of the canopy.

Behaviour

Voice. Soft double note without buzzing before or after. Gentle "hoo-eeoo".
