Identification

Distribution

Western and eastern Africa:
West Africa: found only in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Eastern Africa: Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania

Taxonomy

This is one of the many Sunbirds that have recently been moved to the genus Cinnyris from the genus Nectarinia.

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • C. r. regius:
  • Albertine Rift Mountains (eastern Zaire, south-western Uganda to Burundi; Mahare Mountains)
  • C. r. anderseni:
  • Western Tanzania (Kungwe-Mahale Highlands)
