Identification
46 cm (18 in) and a weight of 690-800 g (24-28 oz). Black, grey chest, red belly, uppertail coverts and wing-panels. Male larger than female and has a small red spot behind the eye. Long hooked bill.

Mountains of New Guinea.
Taxonomy
The Pesquet's Parrot, Psittrichas fulgidus also known as the Vulturine Parrot (leading to easy confusion with Pionopsitta vulturina from Brazil), is the only member of its genus.
Habitat
Hill and montane rainforest.
Behaviour
This bird eats mainly a few species of fig and some nectar.
Nests are built in tree hollows and 2 eggs are laid.
