Location: Cajón del Maipo, Chile.
Phrygilus patagonicus

Identification

Length 15cm. Male - russet back, bluish-grey hood with black lores. Underparts are yellow, with white undertail. Legs are pink. Red eye, cone-shaped gray bill. The female is a duller version, with brown head and olive back.

Similar Species

Similar to the Gray-hooded Sierra Finch but has less white on the underparts mainly restricted to the undertail coverts, and the habitats differ.

Distribution

Central Chile to Patagonia and Argentina.
