Emberiza pallasi

Identification

5½″ (14 cm). Grey/brown upperparts, black streaks; white lower breast, belly, undertail coverts. Black head, throat, upper breast, white collar and moustache stripe. Black tail with white outer feathers. Female lacks black.

Distribution

Asia; western mainland of Alaska.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Reed beds in wetlands, lakes, and along streams in taiga and tundra; winters in grasslands and marshlands.
