Identification
Male: bright azure-blue above with green crown, orange breast shading to yellow on the belly. Female: grey-green above with tinges of blue on wings and tail, pale yellow below. Both have yellow eye-ring.
Distribution
Endemic to the Pacific slope of Mexico.
Taxonomy
Polytypic. Consists of two subspecies.
Habitat
Tropical dry brushy hillsides, open scrubby woods and woodland borders, hedgerows and partial clearings.
