Distribution
South-east Asia: found in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- P. p. praedicta:
- North-western New Guinea (Wandammen Mountains)
- P. p. incerta:
- Mountains of west-central New Guinea
- P. p. perstriata:
- Mountains of central and eastern New Guinea
Habitat
Montane primary forests, both open and dense.
Behaviour
Often cocks tail.
Diet
They feed in low shrubs upwards into the canopy on insects, fruit and nectar.
