Identification

• Chestnut brown above
• Grey below
• Chestnut brown head and wings
• Rusty orange chin patch
• Prominent broad white eye-ring
• Very long, deeply forked and thin rufous tail
• Sexes alike

Distribution

South America: found only in the Andes of central Peru (Junín).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species¹.

Moved to genus Asthenes by Clements (2010)^[1] and IOC (2010)^[1].

Habitat

High-altitude grassland.

Behaviour

The diet includes insects.
