Distribution
Eastern United States north to New York and Massachusetts.
Taxonomy
Formerly considered conspecific with the Spotted Towhee as the Rufous-sided Towhee.
Habitat
Brushland.
Behaviour
They nest in low vegetation or on the ground under shrubs.
