Identification

16 cm. Male - black, white belly and lower breast, stout white bill. Female - olive brown above, pale olive brown breast, buffy white lower breast and belly, dull olive bill ¹.

Rediscovered in 2003 in Mato Grosso, Brazil ¹. There is an unconfirmed report of a female from Bolivia.

This is a monotypic species².

Habitat

Gallery forest, close to water.
