Vermivora crissalis

Identification

Orange undertail coverts, brownish belly, large white eyering, and much larger than other Vermivora warblers.

Distribution

Breeds in the big bend area of Texas and eastern Mexico. Winters in central and southwest Mexico.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.

Habitat

Montane oak forests at altitudes above 6000 feet.

Behaviour

Nests are well hidden in leaf litter or in clumps of grass. Diet is insectivorous.
