- Cettia cetti
Identification
L 1314 cm. Breeds in dense, rather tall and often well-delimited vegetation, preferably near but not in water, e.g. in drier tall reeds with scattered bushes, stands of papyrus, willow, bamboo, various thick bushes etc.; sometimes breeds near human habitation, in thickly wooded parkland, beside reservoirs and canals etc. Mainly resident, but migratory in E. Generally keeps concealed in vegetation, often hops on ground or low down in shrubbery. Nests low down in dense vegetation.
Location
Cetti's Warblers can be found at Stodmarsh NNR near Canterbury, Kent. Their explosive call can be heard alongside the track from the car park down to the reedbed hide, from the vegetation either side. They are hard to see clearly, but they frequently fly from one side of the track to the other, giving brief views. It pays to be patient, as eventually they will show themselves.
Another confirmed location in Kent is in the bushes surrounding the reedbeds on the East side of Motney Hill Road, Rainham. There is a rudimentary hide in the nature reserve overlooking the South end of the reedbeds, although this area has become rather overgrown of late. Again, patience is the key to locating this bird, and the call is more often than not all you will have to alert you to its presence.

Mnemonic
A memorable, if possibly offensive, mnemonic for their song is "Me? Cettis? If you don't like it f*ck off "
