Identification
56-63 cm. Black, white, grey, and brown plumage appearing grey, grey breast, white throat, white neck patch, dark grey nape.
Distribution
Turkey, Armenia, and northern Iran.
Taxonomy
There are 2 subspecies.
Habitat
Stony ground, alpine scrub 1800-3000m.
Behaviour
The nest is a bare ground scrape; 6-9 green eggs are laid and incubated by the female.
The diet includes seeds and vegetables.
