Identification

Rusty back, black and white streaked face, white throat, streaked white crown, nape and back, rust-grey tail; male - tawny flanks, thighs and lower belly, females' are dark chestnut.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Sandstone outcrops, grassland and open woodland.

Behaviour

The diet includes insects and seeds.

They build domed nests and 2-3 eggs are laid.
