Identification

  • Olive-grey or brown upperparts
  • Pale grey face and underparts
  • Brown flanks
  • White eyebrow
  • Red-brown iris
  • Tail: white-tipped tail with a dark band

Distribution

East coast of Australia: found in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

Taxonomy

Subspecies[1]

There are 3 subspecies:

  • G. m. mouki:
  • North-eastern Queensland (Cooktown to Paluma Range)
  • G. m. amalia:
  • G. m. richmondi:

Habitat

Thick bushes in mountain and coastal rainforest and mangroves.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes insects.

Breeding

The nest is a rounded dome made from roots, plants, moss and spider web. Both parents feed the young.
