Location: North Sichuan.China.

Identification

96cm. Black crown, white "ears" starting beneath chin, extending over the ears, scarlet facial skin, bluish-grey body, red iris, crimson legs. Immature - mottled grey-brown. Sexes similar, but spurs on males are larger and round.

Distribution

N-central China.

Taxonomy

A monotypic species.

Habitat

Montane forests up to 3,500m.

Behaviour

The diet includes tubers, berries and vegetables.

6-12 eggs are laid and are incubated for 26 days.
