Identification
27cm.
Male
- Glossy black plumage
- Thick black bill
- Grey legs
- Dark brown iris
Female: smaller than the male
- Chestnut-brown
- Whitish throat and belly
- Dark horn-coloured bill
Distribution
Taxonomy
There are 2 subspecies:
- M. n. niger:
- Lowland forests of Malay Peninsula and Sumatra
- M. n. borneensis:
- Lowland forests of Borneo
Habitat
Lowland rainforests.
Behaviour
The clutch consists of 5-6 white eggs.
