Alternative name: Slaty Cuckoo-Dove; Black Dove
- Turacoena modesta
Identification
- 38.5 cm
- Body dark bluish-slate, head and underparts rather paler
- Long wings and tail almost black
- Greenish iridescence on crown, nape, neck, breast and upper mantle
- Yellow orbital skin.
Distribution
South-east Asia: Indonesia, eastern Lesser Sundas (Timor and Wetar)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Primary and tall secondary monsoon-forest, vine thickets, thickly vegetated gullies and eucalyptus woodland with dense understorey, from sea-level to 1,770 m.
Behaviour
The diet includes fruit.
