Identification

24cm

  • Green
  • Yellowy bill and iris

Male

  • Pale grey head
  • Black nape
  • Yellow throat
  • Golden yellow and pink undertail coverts

Female and young birds have entirely green plumages.

Distribution

Malaysia, the Philippines, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands and Sulawesi.

  • P.m.xanthorrhous Talaud Islands, Sangihe I. (Sulawesi) and Doi I. (n Moluccas)

Habitat

Lowland and hill forests.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes fruits, figs and berries.
