- P. m. capitalis:
- Guinea-Bissau to Niger, southern Chad and Central African Republic

- Congo, southern Central African Republic and northern Zaire
- P. m. dimidiatus:
An addition al subspecies fischeri is not recognised by all authorities.[2]
