Southeast Asia: Indochina, Thailand, Malaysia, Malay Peninsula, Brunei, Philippines, Borneo, Indonesia, Greater Sundas, Sumatra, Java
Taxonomy
Reference [7] suggests elevating subspecies babiensis, bungurensis, difficilis,enganensis, kannegieteri, simalurensis, sumatrensis and vordermani as "Roving Cuckooshrike", C. sumatrensis citing morphological and likely deep DNA divergence. Andaman Cuckoo-shrike C. dobsoni was split from this taxon [1],[2].

- C. s. sumatrensis: "Roving Cuckooshrike". South peninsular Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo
- C. s. bungurensis: "Roving Cuckooshrike". Anambas and Natuna islands (South China Sea)
- C. s. simalurensis: "Roving Cuckooshrike". Simeulue Island (off Sumatra)
- C. s. babiensis: "Roving Cuckooshrike". Babi Island (off Sumatra)
- C. s. kannegieteri: "Roving Cuckooshrike". Nias Island (off Sumatra)
- C. s. enganensis: "Roving Cuckooshrike". Enggano Island (off Sumatra)
- C. s. vordermani: "Roving Cuckooshrike". Kangean Islands (Java Sea)
- C. s. striata: Philippines (Luzon, Polillo and Lubang)
- C. s. mindorensis: Philippines (Mindoro, Libagao and Tablas)
