Identification
35cm. Green, lightly barred, with some dull red on the forehead and lores, belly, and upper tail.
Distribution
Chile, Argentina and Patagonia.
Taxonomy
There are 2 subspecies
- E f ferrugineus
- E f minor
Habitat
Forest, shrubland and farmland.
Behaviour
The diet includes grass and bamboo seeds, nuts and small fruit.
It nests in holes in trees.
