- Solid green, darker above and lighter below
- Yellowish tinge to forehead and lores
- Some blue visible on wings in flight
- Bill pale yellow/green with grey at base
- Dark brown eye
Distribution
Andes of Peru and western Bolivia
Taxonomy
This species is seen as monotypic[1] by some authorities, others recognize both the nominate and andicolus.[2]
Habitat
Upland wooded valleys.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes seeds, buds, and berries.
Breeding
It nests in burrows in steep banks.
Vocalisation
Flight Call: chattering and rapid notes
Alarm Call: a rolling rrueet-ee, rrueet-ee.
