Taxonomy
Eupodotis is a genus in the family Otididae.
Lophotis vs. Eupodotis
Some authorities (Howard & Moore, 2003) place Savile's Bustard (savilei), Buff-crested Bustard (gindiana), and Red-crested Bustard (ruficrista) in the genus Lophotis. However, Clements (2007) and Sibley & Monroe (1996) place these three taxa in Eupodotis, and the Opus follows.
Afrotis vs. Eupodotis
The species in genus Afrotis was formerly placed in genus Eupodotis by some authorities, however there now seems to be a consensus for using Afrotis.
Eupodotis vs. Lissotis
Some authorities (Sibley & Monroe, 1996) lump the genus Lissotis within Eupodotis. however there now seems to be a consensus for using Lissotis..
