Identification
26cm. Black, iridescent green crown, blue-green breast shield and a long velvety black erectile cape covering back. The female is a reddish-brown bird with brownish barred buff below. The young is similar to the female.

Six subspecies are recognized, superba, niedda, feminina, latipennis, minor, and sphinx. This species is the only member of its genus.
Habitat
Rainforests.
Behaviour
The diet includes fruit, berries, insects, frogs and lizards.
The female builds the nest; 2 eggs are laid and are incubated by the female.
