Identification
This small falcon is easily identified by its large, yellow orbital ring and yellow cere and legs. Other than this it is a uniform grey all over.
Distribution
Sub-Saharan Africa. Senegal east to Ethiopia and south to northern Zambia and southern Angola. Resident.

Habitat
Open woodland and wooded savanna, cultivated areas close to water
Behaviour
A beautiful slate-grey Kestrel which rarely hovers but rather has a fast dashing flight behaving more like a typical falcon & tending to feed on small birds rather than small mammals or large insects.
