Identification

16cm. Slate colour, blackish head and neck, white bill, canary yellow frontal shield.

Distribution

Ecuador to Argentina and Chile.

Taxonomy

Depending on the source, this species is either monotypic or has two subspecies: ardesiaca and atrura

Habitat

Lakes and marshes.
